Orion

The Hermit

The Hermit Tarot Card is the 9th card in the tarot deck and represents inner search, reclusion, silence, retreat and distance.

This card pictures an old man with a lantern, thought to be used to search for an honest man, in one hand and a staff in the other. The background is a wasteland with a mountain range.

This card, when played, could mean a need to go into isolation to find yourself, or a need to come out of isolation to share your knowledge.

Giant Orian strides the skies

Orion, the Hunter
Orion is one of the most beautiful of all constellations, and one of the easiest to find. It looks like a large rectangle high in winter's south-southeastern sky.

Orion, the Hunter

Two of the brightest stars in the evening sky lie at opposite corners of the rectangle: bright red Betelgeuse at the northeastern corner and even brighter Rigel at the southwest.

Near the center of the rectangle, look for a short diagonal line of three stars — Orion's belt. And extending south from the belt, you'll see another, fainter line of stars that forms Orion's sword.

One of the objects in Orion's sword isn't a star at all. It's a nebula — a cloud of gas and dust that's like a giant fluorescent bulb. Hot young stars inside the nebula pump energy into its gas, causing the gas to glow.

The Wheel of Fortune

The Ecliptic and the Zodiac

The Wheel of Fortune Tarot Card is the 10th card in the Tarot deck and stands for a turning point such as opportunities, movement, superior forces, life cycles, expansion or new developments.

This card shows 4 winged creatures in the corners, all holding open books, which could represent the 4 seasons, the 4 gospels, 4 fixed signs of the zodiac, 4 angels or 4 evangelists.

The meaning of this card must be interpreted by the Ecliptic

The Ecliptic is the path the sun draws as the Earth moves around the sun. The planets also travel in the ecliptic.e surrounding cards and the person being read but it usually means a change in wealth or position. It could mean the rich getting poor or the poor getting rich.

Fortitude

Hercules ? Leo ?

Card no. 36 in the 'Mantegna Tarot', 'Forteza', Fortitude.   Strength

The Strength Tarot Card or the Fortitude Tarot Card, and in some decks, Lust is the 8th card in most decks, but could also be the 11th in some decks. This card represents inner strength, passion, self control, kindness, slowness and moderation.

This card shows a calm and gentle looking woman with a lion that she is dominant over by holding his jaw. She also has the infinity symbol over her head. Some decks will only feature one of the characters, or the woman may be sitting on the lion.

When played in a spread, this card could mean discipline and control over temptations of the flesh. It could mean that you are in danger of losing this self control. Or it could simply mean a challenging situation which will require more effort on your part

Ophiuchus

The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man Tarot Card or Traitor Tarot Card   is the 12th card in the Tarot deck and symbolizes letting go, sacrifice, giving up, a new point of view, waiting or patience.

This card shows a man hanging from the gallows with his legs crossed, forming another cross. He is not suffering, but in a trance by the look on his face. The card expresses the divine and the universe.

This card could mean life in suspension, but not death. It could also be interpreted to mean an outcast to society. This card could also represent a past sacrifice.

A cosmic Cheshire cat
In the story, Alexander asks one of the wise men, "which animal is the most cunning?". The Brahmin answers, "the one Man does not yet know."

So it goes for the Higgs Boson, which physicists hope to add to the elementary particle menagerie.

[Higgs himself is famously not happy with the name. I would vote for 'Boojum' had it not already been used to describe something else. But the term is now fixed.]

In the 'Cerncast' accompanying the Guardian package of articles about the LHC, Jim al-Khalili suggests that sometimes it's what you don't find what you're expecting that life gets most interesting. So, for example, the failure by Michelson and Morley to measure movement of the Earth against a luminiferous aether help prepare the way for the theory of relativity. It would be equally momentous, said al-Khalili, if the LHC finds no Higgs Boson [see also article here].

If it turns out not to be there (and at present this is considered unlikely), then perhaps this non-existent particle could be called, or not be called, the 'Grin' -- standing for 'gradually receding into nothing' -- of a cosmic Cheshire cat.

The executioner's argument was, that you couldn't cut off a head unless there was a body to cut it off from: that he had never had to do such a thing before, and he wasn't going to begin at his time of life. -- Alice

Scorpius, the Scorpion
Three bright stars form the "head" of Scorpius, the celestial scorpion, while its tail curves away below it in the southern sky of summer.

The brightest star in Scorpius is Antares, which is in the middle of the scorpion's curving body. This brilliant red star is one of the behemoths of our stellar neighborhood. If you placed it at the center of our own solar system, it would swallow Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, and almost reach Jupiter.

Death

The Death Tarot Card is the 13th card in the Tarot deck and does not mean you are going to die. The card signifies loss, sadness, finishing, deep change, goodbyes or the ending of a cycle.

The card shows a skeleton with death around him from all walks of life. He is shown carrying a black flag with a white flower on it. Some decks will omit the name of this card.

When played this card usually signifies the end to something. It could be a relationship or even an interest. It could also represent a power that we cannot control because we are not strong enough. It could be giving us a warning of how short time is and not to waste it and that everyone's time ends eventually.

the Milky Way

Visible light map/drawing of the Milky Way.

I also have to mention that the light blue band across both frames is the Milky Way... and the dark gap in both renderings is the same feature discussed in the previous post about the Mayans, Xibalba and December 2012. To that, allow me to add:

"The Milky Way Galaxy is the inspiration for the symbol of the Ouroboros. Myth refers to a serpent of light residing in the heavens. The Milky Way is this serpent, and viewed at the galactic central point near Sagittarius, this serpent eats its own tail."

Temperance

The Temperance Tarot Card is the 14th card in the Tarot deck and signifies harmony, balance, bringing opposites together, healing, well being or healing.

The card shows a person pouring liquid from one container to the other. This represents virtue as in diluting wine with water. In some decks the person is winged and has one foot on land and the other in water. This represents the conscious and unconscious.

This card, when played, could be telling you that moderation is required in life and the other cards played will tell you where or what that is. This card also represents your unconscious state which guides you. It could be a warning or invitation telling you to be prepared for some of life's most important questions.
